EMDR Intensives
What is an EMDR Intensive?
An EMDR Intensive is a focused, short-term therapy experience that helps you work through anxiety, stress, or past upsetting experiences more quickly than in traditional weekly sessions. Instead of spreading the work out over months, an intensive gives you the time and space to dive in deeply and make meaningful progress in two-hour, half-day or multiple day sessions.
Why choose an Intensive?
Many clients pick an EMDR Intensive because they:
Want faster relief from anxiety, stress, or overwhelm
Feel stuck and want to break through a specific issue
Prefer a focused approach over weekly sessions
Are you going through a stressful period or a life transition
Have a busy schedule and want to make the most of their time
What It Looks Like
An EMDR Intensive usually includes:
Intake Session: We meet ahead of time to learn about your goals, explore areas for targeting in your intensive, and begin formulating a plan for our work together.
Resources for Calming and Self-Care: You’ll learn simple ways to stay grounded and take care of yourself during and after the intensive.
Extended EMDR Sessions: Instead of a 50-minute appointment, we meet for longer blocks (usually 2–4 hours, with breaks) over one or more days so you can stay in the process without feeling rushed.
A Follow-Up Session: We check in afterward to assess how you are integrating the work, explore what has come up since your intensive, and talk about next steps.
How It Helps
Clients often walk away from an EMDR Intensive feeling:
Lighter and less overwhelmed
Less triggered by memories, stress, or old patterns
More grounded and in control
Clearer about what they want and how to move forward
